Two rulers share an origin. One measures to the right, one measures down, and the bottom-right quadrant is graph paper.
A line is a decimal (1, 0.1) or a fraction (1/2, 1/4). Show draws its ticks and gridlines, and Labels writes the numbers. Marks are either added distances, 3 + 4, which land at 3 and at 7, or distances from the origin, 3/4, 1, 2. Each row of the marks box is one of those.
Move over the graph paper to read across and down.
